As we leave the winter and enter into my second year as Mayor of the City of Watervliet, we can build on the successful changes in policies and progress in 2008. As an administrative team, we continue to watch and learn....and we still need your help to ensure our vision of revival.
The Memorial Day parade, Arsenal City Run and Tree Lighting were "spiced" up and saw huge increases in participation. We have challenged ourselves to improve each year and plans are shaping up to do just that.
In 2009 the City began providing its own ambulance service through the Fire Department. We are averaging 3 transports a day with improved response time and continuity of care.
It is my hope that you will become involved with our committees and your community and remember that I encourage you to come to us with issues that affect your day-to-day lives so my staff and I can work to make Watervliet a great place for you to live.
We currently have working committees for our recycling program, Arsenal City Run, Community Gardens in the City and coming soon we will begin meeting in regards to Pershing Green Park and Hudson Shores. For the business owners in the City we have established our Business Council.
