No Snow Emergency Planned

Based on the storm's accumulations and the extended warmer forecast, there are no plans to declare a snow emergency.

Annual Tree Lighting

The City of Watervliet Tree Lighting will take place Saturday, December 6th from 5:00-6:30 p.m.  Activities include horse and carriage rides, music, refreshments (including soup prepared by Watervliet High School's Food and Nutrition Class), ornament distribution (beginning at 5:30 p.m.) and a visit from Santa Claus.

Snow Emergency Notification Registration

Winter is fast approaching. Snow is coming. The City of Watervliet has a very efficient and aggressive snow emergency policy that provides safe passage on all of our City streets for the motoring public as well as accessibility for public safety and emergency service vehicles. The plan includes towing fees and fines.

If you are a City of Watervliet resident please take this opportunity to register for our snow emergency program. It's FREE. Here you will be able to register for snow emergency notification and other notifications issued by the City. Also, you may wish to review the City's snow removal policy.

Your assistance and cooperation with our plan is always greatly appreciated.

If You See Something, Say Something

"If You See Something, Say Something" is a nationwide public awareness campaign. It is a simple and effective program that was designed to raise public awareness of indicators of terrorism and terrorism related crime and to emphasize the importance of reporting suspicious activity to proper local law enforcement authorities.

Stripped down to the most fundamental idea, it is also an excellent concept for communities to utilize at the local level to assist police agencies in identifying crime and/or suspicious activity that community residents are concerned about. HOMELAND Security begins with HOMETOWN Security. So if you See Something, Say Something! Doing so can have a positive impact on the quality of life issues that are commonly left unaddressed because of the misconception that it isn't important or people don't want to get involved. Being proactive and involved in your neighborhood can and will enhance quality of life.

For Watervliet residents it is always OK to call 911 for ANY request for police assistance of ANY nature, however, if you are uncomfortable using 911 for any reason, please call 270-3833 and select option # 1. You will be directed to a NON-EMERGENCY line where you can provide information anonymously or request to speak to an officer. A dispatcher will take some information from you and forward your concern appropriately. If you wish to remain anonymous, simply state your wishes to the dispatcher. You may also wish to listen to the entire phone menu when calling, as you may find a more appropriate option to use to report your concern.
